Isn’t that a song?
“Peeing in the rain!” Oh – no, wait. Not quite.
But dancing in the rain is something I feel like I’m doing with my little dogs in the bad weather.
They wake up, run to the back door like they do every day, I open it, they see the rain, and turn right around, put their hands on their hips and say “HEY. No WAY IN…” Well – you get the idea.
Now, I’ve shoved them out. “You KNOW you need to go!” They sit on the back step and look pitiful till I let them back in.
I’ve walked out with them. They stand in the rain and look pitiful till we go back in. No matter if I stand there for an hour! Which I won’t. But they will NOT PEE IN THE RAIN. Its like “there’s enough wet out here, I refuse to contribute!”
So – what do I do? When its raining, I take them out the garage door. There are overhangs over the garage door and down the side yard. So depending on how the wind is blowing, we go that way. If I stand out there with them, they will eventually go. But I have to watch close because neither of them tend to lift their leg very high in the rain. Not sure why….one of those dog things, I guess.
I’ve had other people tell me they have luck with large umbrellas. One lady built her dog a shelter of hay bales where he could go when the weather was bad. Some put down puppy pads. And some people’s dogs don’t care what the weather is like! Yeah, yeah, rub it in…
